Privacy Policy

This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on the Fineliner website and app.

Information We Collect

The Fineliner app uses no services of its own, has no accounts, and collects no data from users.

Your notebooks are stored on your devices and in your iCloud account.

If you share a notebook, it is shared through iCloud with the people you invite.

Handwriting and image recognition, and any other AI or machine-learning features, only run locally on your devices and do not communicate with or transmit your data to any outside services except iCloud.

Fineliner does not use your data for AI training. (We can't, because we don't have it.)

Locked notebooks use medium-strength, high-convenience encryption features built into iCloud and your devices. This feature is intended to keep casual prying eyes out, but is not designed to protect against advanced attacks or any compromises of your Apple account or device security.

Statistics and crash reports are only collected by Apple at the platform level, and are only available to Fineliner in aggregate, anonymous forms from Apple.

The Fineliner website is hosted by Cloudflare, who operates their own services and may collect data when you visit the website. The Fineliner app does not communicate with its website except to load the Privacy and Terms pages if you open them.

Information Usage

The statistics and crash reports from Apple are used to improve our apps.

We may disclose any information we have in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.

Accessing, Changing, or Deleting Information

You may access, change, and delete your notebooks from the Fineliner app.

Fineliner and Overcast Radio, LLC have no access to this data, and no ability to access, change, or delete it. Please contact Apple with any concerns or requests about data stored in iCloud.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We comply with the California Online Privacy Protection Act by default. We have none of your personal information, and therefore, we can not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We comply with COPPA by default. We never collect or maintain information from or about individual users of any age, and no part of our website or apps are structured to attract anyone under 13.

Information for European Union Customers

By using our apps and providing your information, you authorize us to collect, use, and store information outside of the European Union.

By using our website or apps, you consent to our privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page.
